Support Group
From FRI_Lab
This part of the wiki will be used to collect information presented at FRI Support Group meetings.
FRI Support Group
FRI support group meetings are designed for students who have already spent a year in the FRI research labs. For Spring 2007, they are intended for any member of the pilot group of FRI students.
The purpose of these meetings is to provide continued support and community, a way of disseminating information to you about research-related opportunities, to help you prepare for the research forum, apply for scholarships or internships, look for other research positions, make career decisions, etc. We are also keen to use your feedback on ways to improve the program.
There is no work required of you. There will be three meeting topics that will be designed as workshops to help you work on your abstract and poster for the Research Forum if you so desire. There will be a mailing list and an area on the FRI wiki set up to keep you informed about upcoming events, distribute information, etc.
Where and When
All meetings will last one hour and be held in WCH 1.108. (That's Hogg, not Welch.) To accommodate the many and varied course schedules of everyone, there will be two meeting series, alternating weeks Mondays at 4 pm and Wednesdays at 5 pm, with the subject matter repeated so that you may attend either the Monday or Wednesday series. If you miss a week, you can catch up on that topic by coming to the other meeting series if you wish, or if you find a topic so useful you want to attend both meetings on that topic, feel free. The topics listed towards the end of the semester are tentative and will be chosen based on the interest of the meeting participants.(Schedule updated again to cope with room availability.)
